Dear Colleagues,
GHETS is pleased to announce the availability of fellowships to support the attendance of students at The Network: TUFH’s annual conference in Kampala, Uganda in September 2007. We will award a total of three fellowships of $500, one in each of GHETS’ three program areas: women and health, health workforce development, and worker and community health.
To be eligible for a Student Fellowship, you will be required to have at least one abstract related to the above categories accepted for presentation at The Network: TUFH conference. Recipients of the $500 student awards will be required to raise the rest of the funding needed to attend the conference from other sources.
The deadline for abstract submissions to the conference is June 1, 2007. Once the abstract selection process is complete, (in or around July, 2007) application forms will be sent to all eligible students via email. Criteria under consideration will include: quality of the abstract; access to sufficient additional funding to attend the conference; and quality of the application.
In addition, as the conference is being held this year in Africa, some degree of priority will be given to applicants from African countries in order to encourage African representation at the conference. Students from all regions of the world, however, are encouraged to apply.
For more information about the conference, including how to apply for a visa and how to register, see the conference web site:

Please let me know if you have any questions about the GHETS fellowship application process.
Best Regards,
Marion Billings, MSc

Hi everyone, I just got to know about this blogspot during the Kampala conference where I met Marion, Julia and others from GHETS. They actually awarded me a fellowship which did alot to ensure I was at the conference and I think that though belated, I at least owe them a thank you.I also want to encourage other students to continue writing and attending these TUFH conferences. Kampala was great. Kudos Makerere, kudos the Network.
