Dear Network: TUFH member,

As a Network: Towards Unity for Health (The Network: TUFH) member your institution/organisation pays special attention to medical and health sciences students and provides community-oriented educational programmes. Student exchange programmes enable students to develop a more differentiated perspective on health care and education in their own community. The Student Network Organization (SNO), which is the student chapter of The Network: TUFH, is the best way to facilitate this exchange. The members of SNO include medical and health sciences students from around the world that have had the opportunity to attend Network: TUFH conferences, or study at an institutional member of The Network: TUFH.

This year, The Network: TUFH will organise its International Conference from September 27 to October 2 in Bogotá, Colombia. The Conference theme is “Adapting Health Services and Health Professions Education to Local Needs: Partnerships, Priorities and Passions”. The conference host is Facultad de Medicina, Universidad de La Sabana. The conference will be followed by 2 post-conference excursions:
October 3, 2008: Health Center Agua de Dios
October 3 - 5, 2008: Valledupar - Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta
For more information check the conference website which is available at www.the-networktufh.org/conference.

For the 2008 Network: TUFH Conference in Bogotá, Colombia special emphasis will be placed on student participation and the SNO has created a programme called, “100 Students in Bogotá, Colombia, Towards Unity for Health". At the Conference a couple of SNO sessions will be organised and students are invited to submit abstracts for presentation in a thematic poster session or submit proposals for a mini-workshop. Network: TUFH conferences, which foster a brotherly atmosphere, provide unique opportunities for students to experience and learn from other attendees, while stimulating new ideas and refreshing approaches will be discovered. The attendance from students is always much appreciated by other conference participants.

In order to have 100 students attending the Network: TUFH 2008 Conference in Bogotá, Colombia we are seeking for your help in 2 ways:
· We kindly invite you to inform your students about the Conference and encourage them to attend this conference and participate actively by submitting an abstract or mini-workshop proposal (deadline for submission is June 1, 2008)
· We are already looking for funds with international organisations to enable a number of students to attend this Conference, but still quit a number of students have to arrange their own trip. We would therefore much appreciate if you could offer 1 or more of your students the chance to attend the conference by sponsoring their trip to Colombia.

Your help is very welcome, together we can realise “100 Students in Bogotá, Colombia, Towards Unity for Health"!

Yours sincerely,

Dr. Jan De Maeseneer Ms. Sofia Contreras
Secretary General of The Network: TUFH Secretary General of SNO
