Continue with the Spirit!

Dear Friends,

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you once again for electing me as your Chairperson of the Student Network Organization in Vietnam. I am reminded at times such as these that leadership at any level and in any capacity is a trust given to me by those individuals who know that I will improve SNO.

I am also reminded that there is no “I” in “TEAM”! As such, I implore all of you to utilize this communication tool (i.e. SNO Blog) so that SNO may reach new heights. As a result, please continue posting your thoughts, comments, and suggestions about anything regarding SNO.

Much thanks goes out to Raoul for doing a wonderful job in maintaining our Blog and to my EC for their wonderful hardwork! Please keep it up :-)

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any concerns regarding SNO and how I can better put forth your views to The Network: TUFH EC.

With that, I would like to wish you all a HAPPY & PROPEROUS NEW YEAR!

From your fiendly chairperson,

Ramullah Namisango Kasozi

Discussion themes/topics in the SNO Blog

Dearest Global friends,

Discussions on various issues (in health, medical education, etc.) is highly encouranged in this blog. Specific activities (e.g. student participation in the Ghent conference) that are being developed can be posted as well for people to review and comment on. This way we all get to contribute to the success of these activities no matter where we are.

If you have such postings, discussion themes and topics, please feel free to prompt me about it (email:rabermejo@yahoo.com) so that I can create a link to your specific posting in the side panel of the blog. This way SNO Bloggers can easily survey it. So far, there are links to Yoka's (Pre-conference workshop suggestions...) and Jelle's (Student participation in Ghent Conference 2006) postings.

Wishing everyone good health and prosperity in 2006!

Greetings from the "Pearl of Africa"!

Hello everyone!

I'm sending this blog via my dorm room on a beautiful & sunny afternoon from the heart of the Pearl of Africa; Kampala, Uganda.

Its great to read/see so much activity on this blog!

I must admit, that this is my first time seeing the blog since i left Vietnam. Once i arrived back to school the tidal wave of exams caught me by the throat. Fortunately, i am through with the theory parts of the exam and moving on to the practicals; which i perfer so much :-)

As I was reading through the various posts, i noticed Yoka's post regarding pre-conference workshops. Luckily, Khalifa, Carole, Eman, Catherine, and myself (who attended the Atlanta 2004 Conference) brainstromed several workshop ideas after the conference. Below you will find the "Cut & Paste" copy of the several workshop ideas we felt that could be of use to students attending future The Network:TUFH conference. Hopefully, at least one of them will be implemented in Belgium.

I will try my best to find a suitable facilator here who would be willing to run such a student based workshop.

Anyhow, below find the workshop ideas and feel free to comment on them! Cheers everyone,

Sincerely,

Ramullah

Posting photos

Hi Julie and other SNO Bloggers,

The best way to post photos is to use an online (free) service like Flickr.com, where you can upload all your pictures and then send people a link, and even have a link with thumbnails on the blog.

Here's the link to Flickr if you want to check it out:

http://www.flickr.com/

I have posted a bunch of pictures on my .Mac account, if you want to check them out. Click on the links at the top for all the albums:

There will be lots more pictures on the Network website soon, as well.

Pre-conference workshop suggestion for students at the 2006 conference

Dear Students,

I hope that you enjoyed the Network: TUFH Vietnam conference and that you had the chance to settle in. At the Network: TUFH office we already started with the preparations for our 2006 conference in Ghent, Belgium.

As you may know every year we try to facilitate a pre-conference workshop especially for students and young health professionals. For the Ghent conference we would like to propose a pre-conference workshop on the following theme: How can I, as a student, be of importance for the community?

Could you please let me have your comments on this proposal and perhaps you have a suggestion for a staff member who could facilitate this pre-conference workshop?
If you have another suggestion for a theme, please let me know!

Looking forward to seeing your comments.

Best wishes,

Yoka Cerfontaine
Secretary
